My alter ego is "littlepiggynomore" on the Weight Watchers forums and must say the name is quite fitting and not too far from the truth. OINK!! But this blog represents my journey of weightloss and self discovery. There will be many hurdles to cross but as long as I don't give up I am sure that I will get there eventually!

Menu Plan Monday - 13th July to 19th July 2009

Good morning all,

Well after spending last night sooking about all the bad things that are happening in my life, in and out of my control, today has been a great day so far.

Not only is my friend "ROUTINE" back with the start of another school term but I have more of a positive outlook and actually feel somewhat motivated. I have two weeks left before I go back to the doctors for further tests regarding Diabetes Type 2 and as I have mentioned before I do not want to end up on medication temporarily or permanently. Needless to say the outcome will be due to my own actions.

Last week I felt somewhat lost not menu planning! Strange how that sounds, but being organized is something I just like to do. It was school holidays and I was just slack with having the chance to get up, spend all day thinking about what I was cooking and then doing just that... now with school back it's back to the normality of knowing each week's menu so here is this weeks.

Monday

Veal Cutlets with Mustard Sauce

Tuesday

Country Style Chicken Casserole with Parmesan Dumplings

Wednesday

Hoisin Braised Pork Chops with "Cheats" Steamed Asian Greens

Thursday

Glazed Meatloaf with salad

Friday

"Fish Of The Day"

Saturday

Chinese Roast Pork Rice Paper Rolls

Sunday

Lamb and Apricot Tagine

Where has this week gone??

Strange how a change in routine (not food related) can change the whole balance of your life!! The kids are in their second week of the school holidays now and I haven't done my usual things....

I didn't menu plan this week as either I have been home or hubby has. I have to say that this actually annoyed me... no menu planning meant no shopping list!! So will definitely be menu planning tomorrow before we even attempt going shopping!

Not to mention I seem to have neglected this blog a little. I must make more of an effort! Saying this I am sorry this is only a quickie post too! gggggrrrrrr

On the upside though - I have been quite good and quite active over the holidays. Monday we took the kids to the zoo and walked and walked and walked. It was so much fun - I love seeing the kids faces etc.

Diabetes and the future.......

I made a huge decision yesterday....

That decision was NOT to dwell in the fact that I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. My decision was to look to the future, positively, and make the changes to beat the disease. After all, it's totally do-able.

I am not on any medication, my doctor has said that with changes to my diet and losing weight, reduction of my alcohol intake and increasing the exercise that I do (anything is better than nothing!! LOL!!) is all that I really need to do.

My results were not over the top but enough to put me into the "diabetic" classification. I had the 2 hours Glucose test on Monday and this is what my results looked like:

After fasting for 12 hours - glucose should be <6.9 - mine was 7.5
After 2 hours sitting - glucose should be <11 - mine was 11.0

In 4 weeks I have to go back to the doctors and for another test and to see how I have gone. So it's all up to me now....

I have wiped the slate clean, the past is history and today I am facing this as a new challenge... a new journey and I the only baggage I am carrying is my test results. I know I have started, restarted and restarted my weight loss journey many times before, and I have told you all about it, but I have to make the effort this time, I have to succeed and I REALLY DO WANT TO!!

Knowing that I do actually know what I have to do and how to there is not the challenge - the challenge is DOING IT!!

So today is my first day......

Chocolate for breakfast - WTF?

You know the day is off to a bad start when.....

you open your cereal to find it moving... eeeewwwwww!!!!!

...and....

the only other thing at work to eat is fundraising chocolates!!!!!

I don't even like chocolate... but my stomach was grumbling and I don't finish work until 12pm.

Staying the same....

Not only did I have a good weekend but overall I had a good week!! What about you?

Although weight wise I had to play catch up on the last few weeks of being off track, I remained positive and focussed on the future. The scales stayed the same but I am okay with that - like I said I am playing catch-up!!

As usual there was temptation on the weekend - a few I succumbed to but I am only human... and I am not beating myself up about my errors... just going to move forward.

Have a great week all........
